The 12th edition of the world cup had a lot of disruptions because of the rain and owing to that Virendra Sehwag took a jibe at the DRS method and suggested what would have happened if the same rule was applied by HR at the workplace. Not just the DRS, world cup saw other weird rules too. So, I thought what would have happened if all these rules were applicable at our workplaces too.
1. Robots are checking our work instead of our managers:
According to DRS system technology review the decisions of the umpire in the match and their decision stands superior to the umpire standing on the field, now imagine what would happen if robots are reviewing the performance of people instead of the managers will it be less biased?
2. If salary is paid based on DLS method:
Just like the cricket match imagine if employees are not paid fixed salary based on knowledge, skills and experience but the variable salary is decided by HR on various other factors just as Duckworth method works in cricket during rainy days.
3. If you are selected in the interview based on your handwriting:
England won the 12th edition of the world cup because it has hit more number of fours, what if people two people have performed equally good in the written test and interview and the one person is selected because her hand-writing was good.
4. Employees are fined for their slow work:
Captains of the team are fined if the match has a slow rate and now if the same rule is applicable at workplaces then HR would cut down some percentage of their salary if they do not complete their work on time. Yes, some organizations have provision for incentives and bonus for excellence in target completion but if these rules are applicable in all organisations Oh! Poor employees, what will happen?
Can we also do our daily work to the next day if it wasn’t completed just like India’s semi-final match?
