Indians are second to none in any field be it technology, medicine, sports or business. The same goes for holding unique Guinness World Records. Here are some amazing, and a few records proudly held by Indians:
1. Guinness world record for the largest collection of clothes for donation.
''Vastradan'' campaign started by a member of a royal family in Udaipur has recently created a Guinness world record for the largest collection of clothes for donation. It received over 3,29,250 pieces of clothing from over 76,000 donors which were distributed to the needy. The campaign reached out to over 120 schools, 15 colleges and around 30 NGOs.
2. Guinness World Record for blood donation
A team from Rotary Bangalore district holds the world record for collecting 3034 litres of blood across the 13 locations in Karnataka in just a course of 8 hours. This record was created in August 2016. Lata Amashi, a 64-year-old woman is a key person in this initiative. Apart from her volunteers from biker’s associations to auto drivers to small tailors are part of this project.
3. They also hold the Guinness world record for conducting the largest event for diabetes awareness, a campaign which she spearheaded.
4. Guinness World Records of creating the world’s longest crocheted scarf
A group of about twenty women from Mothers India’s Crochet Queens (MICQ) from Madurai created the Guinness world record of creating the crocheted scarf which measures up to about 14.089 km. They have donated over about 600 pieces of caps and cowls to Army men stationed in Ahmedabad.
